Creating > Consuming

I was reminded again of the imbalance in our world between consumption and creation. There are so many consumers, and so few creators. It’s no wonder we’re all stuck in jobs we hate. We’re too afraid of the unknown. Try things, explore, experiment.. Find a low stakes way to give it a shot if you’re even remotely curious.

I want to do a track day.. I can rent a small cc bike from BikeAddicts and go. For $500 I can figure out if this is a competitive outlet worth pursuing. Stop putting these things off.

I want a creative outlet… but I don’t try to build, write, create art, or anything. Find a medium:

  • Write daily (low stakes, zero cost, this journal entry counts for today)
  • Think about what kinds of art interest me and pursue one
    • woodworking
    • painting
    • drawing
    • digital art
    • wall decorations (like nugeandwood with the waves)
    • car art (like the side shot digital drawings on insta)
    • welding
  • Pursue hobbies and work that force continued learning
    • build or buy a business
    • learn to do my own vehicle maintenance
    • figure out how SEO and digital marketing work

If you haven’t found your passion, how can you possibly expect to find or create it if you continue to do the same familiar things every day? Invest the time. Take the small risk. Be willing to look dumb.
